SEATTLE, WA — More than a month after a 55-year-old Seattle woman died, investigators have arrested her husband on suspicion of murder. According to court records, the man called 911 on September 18th and told dispatchers he found his wife lying face-down on the floor of their home, north of Wedgwood. Officers and medics arrived at the house and were unable to revive the woman after performing CPR for 30 minutes.

After the King County Medical Examiner’s office finished an autopsy, they told police there were multiple signs of injuries on the woman’s body. Court documents filed Thursday said the autopsy revealed fractures in the woman’s neck and scattered bruising throughout her body. During the investigation, detectives learned of a previous assault that left the woman hospitalized with a neck fracture in 2018, which was not reported to the police.

Detectives opened an investigation into the death and interviewed the woman’s 65-year-old husband on Wednesday. Police said he denied being responsible for the death and the previous assault but gave differing accounts regarding the events surrounding his wife’s death. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence homicide and is being held on a $2 million bond. A second appearance is scheduled for November 4th.
