MIAMI, FL – A 62-year-old Miami-Dade man was shot multiple times in front of his home early Tuesday morning during an apparent robbery attempt. The incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of NE 211 Terrace, according to Miami-Dade police.

The victim was identified by police as Dorrel Anderson, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds as he tried to get away from the two men armed with handguns.

“Mr. Dorrel Anderson was leaving his home when two unknown males approached his vehicle and demanded his wallet,” explained Detective Christopher Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department. “In fear for his safety, Mr. Anderson attempted to drive away. Both subjects opened fire striking Mr. Anderson multiple times in his extremities and causing him to crash into a pole.”

Thomas said that Anderson was struck again as the two armed men left the area on foot.

“As the subjects fled the scene, one of them turned around and fired several more shots at Mr. Anderson, striking him in the chest,” Thomas added.

Anderson was taken by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Aventura Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
